The Peddie School Hightstown, NJ 08520 The Peddie School, established in 1864, is situated on a beautiful 280 acre campus that encompasses a lake, woodlands, extensive facilities including an eighteen hole golf course, the new Caspersen Campus Center, the Geiger-Reeves Theater, the Ayer memorial Chapel, and Athletic Center housing a swimming pool, basketball & volleyball courts, fitness center and indoor Tartan track. Outdoor facilities include tennis courts, softball field, baseball fields, football fields and an all weather track. Peddie is located in Hightstown, New Jersey midway between New York City and Philadelphia. Average class size is twelve and Advanced Placement courses are offered in a variety of areas. The Peddie faculty consists of 87 teachers who also advise and counsel students. The college guidance counselors assist with direction to schools suitable to capabilities and specific needs. This process begins in the junior year. Last year all graduates continued on to colleges and universities, including Brown, Washington University, Penn and the University of Chicago. Boarding students reside in dormitories supervised by resident faculty members. Peddie enrolls five hundred students ranging from 13 to 19 years of age from twenty states and eighteen countries. Students are involved in a broad range of activities with clubs in photography, drama, chess and astronomy. They produce a daily news publication, literary magazine and yearbook. Musical groups include chorus, concert. jazz and spirit bands. Weekend events on campus are dances, concerts, dorm parties and Drama Club performances. Academic life centers around Annenberg Hall which houses 23 classrooms, language labs, computer center, and the library holding 30,000 volumes. The Caspersen Science Building provides 7 laboratories, lecture hall, planetarium and greenhouse. The Swig Arts Center includes an art gallery, video imaging center and practice rooms for music, drama and dance. The cost to attend Peddie is $30,400 for boarders and $22,300 for day students. nearly 42% of the students receive financial aid totaling more than four million dollars.
